UnMasking: Now We Speak was a Mark Making visual art, creative writing, and performance project of people with addiction and mental health issues who were a Hamilton County Trauma Track Re-Entry program participant or incarcerated at Silverdale Detention Center. The participants’ art and stories were the result of a year-long workshop series where they worked with storytellers, poets, and artists to tap into dark crevices and access parts of themselves and their memories that house pain and suffering, both endured and committed. The core purpose of UnMasking: Now We Speak was to help participants create improved future stories for themselves and their audience.
